Pendant 256 jours, le réalisateur Jordan Feldman a suivi l’artiste français Xavier Veilhan de façon quasi quotidienne. Tourné avec un dispositif volontairement léger, ce documentaire dans lequel la caméra finit par se faire oublier, décrit la vie d’un artiste contemporain dans son environnement, affectif, relationnel et professionnel. De l’ébauche utopique de projets jusqu’à leur réalisation conditionnée par les réalités économiques et techniques institutionnelles, nous suivons Xavier Veilhan au cœur du monde artistique contemporain, entre son atelier, la galerie et le musée en compagnie de tous les acteurs qui constituent ce milieu. En 90 minutes, son parcours nous entraîne de Lyon à Bordeaux ou l’artiste réalise des sculptures pour l’espace public, puis à Paris pour les préparatifs de son exposition au Centre Georges Pompidou. The director Jordan Feldman followed the French artist Xavier Veilhan for 256 days, on an almost daily basis. Shot from a deliberately lighthearted point of view this documentary, in which the camera is eventually forgotten, shows the life of a contemporary artist in his environment—emotional, relational, and professional. From projects’ utopic beginnings to their realization determined by economic realities and institutional techniques, we follow Xavier Veilhan to the heart of the contemporary art world, from his studio to the gallery and the museum, in the company of all the protagonists who make up this milieu. In 90 minutes his journey takes us from Lyon to Bordeaux, where the artist is making public sculptures, and then to Paris for the preparation of his exhibition at the Centre Georges Pompidou. |
